The Eastern Eagles fell behind 35-0 at the half to the Sam Houston State Bearkats, but started a furious rally in the second half. The Eagles got to within 7 points, 35-28, and then 3 points, 45-42, the eventual final score. A week after Kyle Padron tied the school record with 6 touchdown passes, Vernon Adams also accomplished the feat. Wide receiver Brandon Kaufman broke the FCS record for single season receiving yards. He finished the season with 1,850 yards (93 receptions and 16 TD) to break the record of 1,712 previously held by Eddie Conti of Delaware in 1998.
